Birthday Dinner...YUM!

Friday, May 28, 2010

I took the birthday boy out for dinner last night to his favorite steakhouse, Ruth's Chris.  Above is a picture of my meal-4 oz filet cooked medium rare topped with 3 jumbo shrimp.  It was the most amazing thing that I have ever eaten.  The steak literally melted in my mouth.  They sear each steak at 1800 degrees and top it off with butter. It sizzles as they bring it to your table.  Matt had an 11 oz rare filet, which made for one happy birthday boy.

The next time you are in the mood for a good quality steak, head to Ruth's Chris.  I promise you won't be disappointed!

Happy Birthday to the TWINS!!!

Twenty six years ago today two little miracles were born!  Matt & Grace were born 3 months premature, so when I say that they were miracles, I mean it.  They both had to have major surgery and spent many months in the hospital.  I don't want to go into the details of that horrible time that Matt's mom has told me about, but I want to celebrate the life that they live!

I was so blessed to meet this family a little over two and a half years ago-first cousin Rachel, and then Grace.  We quickly formed a unique friendship and spent all spring & summer together.  Grace is truly one of a kind.  She is strong, stubborn, hard headed, independent, but also loving, caring, and soft hearted.  She has gone through many personal battles throughout her life & has always ended up on top. I couldn't have asked for a better sister in law or aunt for my children.  Grace, you amaze me in so many ways!

And then there is Matthew.  Grace & Rachel introduced Matt and I two years ago.  I knew he'd be a great friend, but nothing more. We'd meet up for weekly happy hours & enjoyed each others company.  Matt was the loud one in our crowd.  He always had to be the center of attention.  Matt asked me out on a date one night and I thought he was joking, but he wasn't.  A week later we went on the worst date of both of our lives. Then we spent the weekend at the lake with our friends for the twins birthday & something clicked.  We have been together ever since.  Matt is without a doubt the most loud, annoying, stubborn man that I've ever met, but he is also the most compasionate, tender hearted, and loving person that I know.  He is my best friend, my rock, my other half.  Matthew, your work ethic, stubborness, and your ablilty to put up with me on a daily basis amazes me.  I thank God daily for you, your life, and for God putting us together, and allowing us to create a life together.

This goes without saying, but God had some special plans for Matt & Grace when He brought them into this world twenty six years ago.  Happy Birthday you too! I love you both & I hope you have an amazing day!

Productive/Boring Weekend

Another exciting weekend in the Moore household-I had Friday off, so I worked around the house cleaning, laundry, and organizing.  We are in the process of getting everything ready for Baby Moore, so I cleaned out 2 closets worth of stuff & organized.  While cleaning out one of our closets I stumbled across a couple of boxes of pictures...middle school pictures....WOW! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.  After spending about 2 hours actually looking at all the pictures I finally decided to box them up & put them away.  This was also my first day without any type of morning sickness!!! It was splendid!!! Saturday was pretty much of the same thing.  Matt FINALLY orgnanized all of his hunting gear & it's boxed up and is awaiting Oct. 1st, when bow season opens.  So the nursery is completely cleared out and is a blank canvas for us to work with for Baby Moore.  I thought I was having another perfect day with no sickness, but around 8:00pm it hit & it hit hard!!! I'm ready for week 13 to come around, so I can have some relief!  We missed church on Sunday, because...yep, you guessed it, I was sick again.  Once my nausea finally passed Matt & I worked on clearing out the garage and getting it all organized!  I took a break from all the hard work & hit up the pool! Goodness it was a hot one on Sunday.  I actually stayed out for a couple of hours and got a little suntan.

The weekend ended & now I have one full week left of my teaching career!!! WOOOHOOO!  We are reviewing for finals & my kids take their test on Friday!  Thursday we will celebrate Matt's 26th birthday!!!! I'm so glad because I'm sick of hearing him call me old.  We have 6 months of being the same age & then I grow a year closer to 30!

We are heading to the lake for Memorial Day weekend-my parents are coming into town.  It should be a blast to have both of our families together!!! Lots of beer (water for me), sun, wakeboarding, and relaxation for us, hopefully we can get a little fishing in too!

Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Expecting!

Matt & I found out about a month ago that we are pregnant!!! We are so excited and still in shock! My parents came into town 2 weeks ago to celebrate Mother's Day early.  We bought our mom's "How to Be a Perfect Grandma".  They opened them at the same time & my mom flipped out! This will be her first grandchild & they are ecstatic.  Matt's parents are pros at this grandparent thing-this will be their 3rd grandchild.

Things have been going well so far, but the books are right.  I'm constantly tired & nauseated!  This week I had my first bout with morning sickness, and it sucked!  But enough of that- we go back to the Dr. on June 7th to hear the heartbeat!

This is going to be a very exciting journey!  Keep checking back for updates on Baby Moore!
